Flower patterns & plant life cycles – my backyard in data

A personal data visualisation of the plants in my own garden: when do they bloom, when to prune, how do they grow?

Every gardener wants to know what's growing in their garden and when to act. But plant labels are inconsistent and a clear reference tool is lacking. This project started as a personal quest: mapping my own backyard.

From a garden full of unknowns to a clear overview

The visualisation brings together all the plants in my garden in one image: flowering patterns, growth cycles, dimensions, and the best times to prune and mulch. The result: an intuitive reference for my own garden – and a method that can be applied more broadly. Selected for the Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards 2019 longlist.
